MILLEDGEVILLE — The Milledge Baldwin Cunty Unification Study Committee invites the community to attend a meeting May 8 at 4 p.m. to be held at the CGTC Conference Center. The purpose of the meeting is to get community input on the Charter proposal.

In honor of National Travel and Tourism Week CVB will hold free historic trolley tours May 3-10. The tour will run Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m., seating will be first come first serve. The Old Governor’s Mansion will also offer tours at $7, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

GMC will hold a parade Friday, May 9 at 2:30 p.m. on Grant Parade in order to honor all mothers for Mother’s Day. Employers are asked to allow mothers of GMC children to take off during that time in order to be present. The speaker will be Penny Hall, senior vice president of BB&T.

The 10th Congressional District Republican Party is planning a Congressional Candidate Rally and Forum May 10 at the Parkside Main 8 Theater, Highway 44 next to the Publix Shopping Center, in Greensboro. The American Legion will hold its annual Car Show May 10 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. There will also be a blood drive and a chicken dinner sale. Registration for the car show begins at 9, the blood drive begins at 10, dinners will go on sale at 11 and car entries will no longer be accepted after noon. Awards for the car show will be presented starting at 3 p.m. The event is a fund raiser for the American Legion and will take place at 231 Log Cabin Road at the corner of Hudson Drive.

Chaplinwood Health & Rehabilitation would like to remind the community that May 11-18 is National Nursing Home Week.

The Milledgeville Lions Club, assisted by Milledgeville fire fighters, will conduct its 29th Fishing for Sight fish-a-thon May 17 from 10 a.m. to noon (with a rain date of May 24). Kids five through 13 will compete for trophies at the Baldwin County Recreation Center’s big pond. Live bait, cane poles and a limited number of buckets will be provided.



Wednesday, May 7

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey 706-473-0431.

10:30 a.m.-noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information call 478-453-4241.

3 p.m.: The Baldwin County Board of Assessors meets in the Baldwin County Courthouse in Room 104.

4 p.m.: The Oconee Heights Community Clean Up Day will have a meeting at Wesley Chapel AME Church, 425 Bell Ave. If interesting in assisting, with equipment or time, please attend the meeting.

6-8 p.m.: Northside Baptist Church, 1001 N. Jefferson St., offers free English lessons for non-English speakers. Free childcare is provided. Contact 478-452-6648.
