MILLEDGEVILLE — Flu vaccines are now available at the Baldwin County Health Department. They will offer both the traditional flu shot and Flu Mist, which is a nasal spray. Vaccines will cost $25 but are available at no charge to those on Medicaid, Peachcare, Wellcare, Amerigroup, Medicare Part B, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia or a State Benefit Plan through United Healthcare or Cigna. Flu vaccines will also be offered in the schools this year. Parents will receive permission slips from their child’s school in the coming weeks.

The Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy of Baldwin County will host their inaugural Book it to the Finish 5K fundraiser. A Tiny Trot for children six and under will take place and a costume contest will be held as well. The event will provide children aged birth to five with appropriate books, one every month until their fifth birthday. All proceeds raised will stay in Baldwin County and be used to give books to all local children under the age of five. Registration for the Tiny Trot and the 5K is $25 until the day of the face. Registration forms can be picked up from any of the sponsors or at www.active.com. Family registration is $60 with a maximum of four people. Checks should be made payable to the Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy. The event will take place at the North Baldwin County Fire Station at 105 Airport Road on Sept. 29.

Tuesday, Sept. 25

10:30 a.m.: A Senior Olympic badminton club will be held at the Baldwin County Recreation Department gym.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Cafe Central is open every Tuesday at Freedom Church in Milledgeville. A free meal will be served to everyone who comes. For information on volunteering, call (478) 453-4400.

12 p.m. to 5 p.m.: GMC will host the Fall Quarter Blood Drive in the mini-gym of Cordell Events Center. The drive is sponsored and staffed by the services of the Armed Services Blood Services stationed at Ft. Gordon. Blood Drives at GMC are open to the public and appointments are not necessary. 12:45 p.m.: The Milledgeville Kiwanis Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club. Visitors are welcome to the program and to lunch with a club sponsor.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center on Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

2 p.m.: The County Commission will have a Revenue, Finance and Budgets Committee Meeting in the Baldwin County Courthouse in Room 319.

3 to 6 p.m.: Milledgeville Marketplace Farmers Market features locally grown produce and hand made products. It is located in the city lot at 222 East Hancock between the Chevron Golden Pantry and the Huddle House. Free customer parking is available in the top parking area, and additional parking is located in the freshly cut grassy field just behind the lot.

3:30 to 6:30 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 4 p.m.: N.A.M.I. (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Oconee, a support group for consumers, family, and friends of individuals with a severe mental illness/brain disorder, meets in the Christian Education Building of Covenant Presbyterian Church at 440 N. Columbia St. (478) 452-8600.

6:30 p.m.: Milledgeville City Council meets at City Hall.

7 p.m.: The Sweet Georgia Sound Sweet Adeline Chorus meets at Vineville Christian Towers to practice, socialize and sing. It is for women only. (478) 932-5387.

Wednesday, Sept. 26

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey (706) 473-0431.

10:30 a.m. to noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with 5 sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information, call (478) 453-4241.
