June 3-July 19 the Baldwin County Nutrition Department will provide free meals to children. The meals will be served at Baldwin High School, Monday-Friday. Breakfast is from 7:30-9 a.m. and lunch is from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. A school bus will also deliver and serve lunches throughout the community. On Saturday, July 20 at 9 a.m. a fundraising and awareness motorcycle ride will be held in honor of Putnam County Sheriff Sgt. Richard Herren. “Ride for Richard” will begin at the Eagle One Travel Center/Eatonton Travel Plaza on Highway 441 and will travel approximately 130 miles to Benton Lee’s Steakhouse for lunch in Uvalda. A raffle will be held at the restaurant and an auction will take place in Monticello after the ride. Donations for Herren’s fight are appreciated. A community trip to Casino Drive in Cherokee, N.C., will take place on Saturday, July 20. Transportation will be provided, and the group will leave at 8 a.m. from the Piggly Wiggly on the Southside. The annual Senior Farmers Market will be held at the Collins P. Lee Center located at 237 Harrisburg Road. This is a great opportunity for everyone, not just seniors, to purchase nutritious, seasonal produce from local farmers.
