MILLEDGEVILLE — June 3-July 19 the Baldwin County Nutrition Department will provide free meals to children. The meals will be served at Baldwin High School, Monday-Friday. Breakfast is from 7:30-9 a.m. and lunch is from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. A school bus will also deliver and serve lunches throughout the community. On Saturday, July 20 at 9 a.m. a fundraising and awareness motorcycle ride will be held in honor of Putnam County Sheriff Sgt. Richard Herren. “Ride for Richard” will begin at the Eagle One Travel Center/Eatonton Travel Plaza on Highway 441 and will travel approximately 130 miles to Benton Lee’s Steakhouse for lunch in Uvalda. A raffle will be held at the restaurant and an auction will take place in Monticello after the ride. Donations for Herren’s fight are appreciated. A community trip to Casino Drive in Cherokee, N.C., will take place on Saturday, July 20. Transportation will be provided, and the group will leave at 8 a.m. from the Piggly Wiggly on the Southside. The annual Senior Farmers Market will be held at the Collins P. Lee Center located at 237 Harrisburg Road. This is a great opportunity for everyone, not just seniors, to purchase nutritious, seasonal produce from local farmers. Seniors (60 years and older) who are interested in obtaining a voucher for free produce should contact Nicole Gaither at 478-751-6466 by July 23. This market is a joint effort of Middle Georgia Regional Commission Area Agency on Aging, Baldwin County Parks & Recreation Department, Milledgeville Community Garden Association and First Presbyterian Church. Everyone is welcome to attend this one-time market on Friday, July 26 from 9-11 a.m. SNAP/EBT will be accepted.

A bone marrow drive, sponsored by the Be The Match Foundation, in honor of Antwon, a five-year-old with Sickle Cell Anemia, will be held on Saturday, July 27 at East Wilkinson Community Park from 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

July 1-Aug. 31 Papa John’s Pizza will donate $1 to Georgia Cancer Support Group every time someone makes an online order with the promotional code: GCS10. Maddox Investing in America Inc. will provide free sack lunches to children in low-income areas on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer. Volunteers are needed to help package and deliver the lunches. To volunteer call Timothy and Tarneshia Maddox at 478-696-0112 or 478-234-9283.

Communities In Schools has partnered with Baldwin Family Connection to hold a School Uniform Drive until July 31. New and gently used clothing will help provide uniforms to students in need. Acceptable clothing items are: khaki, black or navy pants and white, navy, red or black shirts with collars. Clothes can be dropped off Monday-Thursday at the Board of Education, Communities In Schools (GC, 101 Chappell Hall), Northridge Christian Church and First United Methodist Church.
