Georgia DoT will suspend lane closures for Labor Day weekend starting noon Aug. 30 and extending through 5 a.m. Sept. 2.

The Kiwanis Club of Milledgeville will be hosting the 2013 River Rat Race at the Oconee River Greenway Sept. 21. Heart Pine, a bluegrass band, will perform in Allen’s Market Building Sept. 6 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Marlor House 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or online at www.milledgevillealliedarts.com.

JMA and Five O’Clock Somewhere Bar-B-Que are sponsoring a softball double header at 4 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the JMA softball fields. The event is family friendly and is to support National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds from the event will go to CURE Childhood Cancer, an Atlanta based organization. Mark the Magic Man will host two shows on Sept. 14 at the W.E. Knox Civic Center, Gray, at 3 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children and VIP tickets are available. Proceeds will benefit the Help Camden Foundation.

10 a.m.-noon: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge.
