The seventh annual Family Fun Day presented by Tracy Harper Productions will be held May 31 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Pecan Grove at Central State Hospital. Oconee Chapter 400 will hold a cookout and picnic May 31 starting at 11 a.m. at the American Legion, 231 Log Cabin Road. Entry is $5 per person. There will be door prizes and an auction as well as food. A DJ will entertain between noon and 3 p.m. All proceeds will benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The Oconee Heights Community Cleanup and Keep Milledgeville-Baldwin Beautiful will host a clean up day in the Oconee Heights Area May 31 from 8 a.m. to noon. The focus for the day will be Barnes Avenue. All volunteers are asked to meet at Wesley Chapel AME Church between 7:30 and 7:45 a.m. Supplies needed: rakes, shovels, weedeaters, lawn mowers, bush hooks, trash bags, trucks and more. Allied Arts invites all area artists to join ‘Sunday Artists’ at the Allen’s Market Building the first Sunday of each month from 2 to 4 p.m. The June 1 artists will be painter Dana Wiggins. There is no fee and participants should being their own supplies.
Helms Career Institute in Milledgeville (located behind the mall) will hold a Career and Health Fair June 5 from 1 to 4 p.m. The public is invited.
The YES Program is taking applications for the Baldwin High School Summer YES Program (June 2-26, Monday-Thursday, 8 a.m.-noon) for all rising ninth grade students. Applications are available at the front office of Baldwin High School or by e-mailing email@example.com. Enrollment is limited. No transportation will be provided.
The Baldwin County Nutrition Department will provide free meals to children during the summer June 2-July 25 (no meals will be served July 4). Summer meals will be served at two locations: GNETS, 1300 B. Orchard Hill Road, and BHS, 155 Highway 49 West. Breakfast will be from 7-8 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Lunch will be delivered to the following sites: Graham Homes, 11 a.m.; Pine Knoll Apartments, 11:25 a.m.; Duplex City, 11:45 a.m.; River Bend Apartments, 12:10 p.m.; The Manor, 12:40 p.m.; Finnagan’s Mobile Home Park, 1:05 p.m.; 5th Street Mobile Home Park, 1:30 p.m.; Lockwood Mobile Home Park, 1:50 p.m.
