MILLEDGEVILLE — A bake and yard sale to benefit Oklahoma tornado victims will be held on June 15 beginning at 8 a.m. The event will take place at Dogwood Retirement Homes, 101 S. Columbia St., and will feature home and kitchen items as well as baked goods and knick-knacks.

The Milledgeville Golf Association will have an Open House at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center, 59 Highway 22 W, on June 15 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.. The Open House will be an information session about classes to be held for children ages eight through 16 the game of golf. Applications are available from any member of the association or by visiting Little Fishing Creek golf course. June 15 and 22 the Kappa League will hold a Karwash/Yard Sale at Century Bank on North Columbia Street. All proceeds from the event will be sent to Moore, Okla. in support of tornado victims.

The Sallie Ellis Davis Cultural Arts Center presents A Credit to the Race: The Presence, Problems and Portrayal of African-Americans at Work. Movies will be shown as part of the event. On June 18 at 3:30 p.m. “Imitation of Life” will be shown and on June 25 “Nothing But A Man” will be played. On June 27 at 6 p.m. Dr. Mark Huddle will present the Juneteenth Lecture.

Allied Arts will sponsor an Adult Printmaking Workshop on Tuesday, June 18 and Thursday, June 20 from 6 - 9 p.m. in the Allen's Market Building. Call 478-452-3950 or visit www.milledgevillealliedarts.com.

Central State Hospital Local Redevelopment Authority has partnered with Z97 to host a free concert open to the Milledgeville community in hopes of providing a fun, family friendly experience. The concert will be held June 22 at Central State Hospital's Pecan Grove. Free Lance Ruckus and Fall Line Ramblers will be performing. Guests are welcome to bring a blanket or purchase an eight-person table for $20 or $5 for couples. Throughout June the Animal Rescue Foundation Inc. (ARF) will hold a cat adoption special. The adoption fee special is $25 for teenage and adult cats that have been at the shelter since before May 20. ARF is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 - 7 p.m. ARF is located at 711 S. Maddox Investing in America Inc. will provide free sack lunches to children in low-income areas on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer. Volunteers are needed to help package and deliver the lunches. To volunteer call Timothy and Tarneshia Maddox at 478-696-0112 or 478-234-9283.

June 3 - July 19 the Baldwin County Nutrition Department will provide free meals to children. (No meals will be served July 4-5.) The meals will be served at Baldwin High School, Monday - Friday. Breakfast is from 7:30 - 9 a.m. and lunch is from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. A school bus will also deliver and serve lunches throughout the community. 10 a.m. - noon: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge.
