Theft by Shoplifting
A clerk at a South Wayne Street department store reported the theft of four pairs of black pants, three white shirts and purse by a female Jan. 18. The clerk witnessed the woman conceal the items inside the purse. She ran out of the store without paying for the items.
While maintaining crowd control in front of Baldwin High School Jan. 19, officers received a report by a man that was already detained from a previous altercation that a crowd of people attacked him as he was exiting the door. He received a cut to the right of his eye.
A clerk at North Jefferson Street convenience store reported a fraudulent $100 bill by a man around 9:07 p.m. Jan. 17. The man tried to use the bill to purchase gas. Due to the amount of fraudulent $100 bills that have come into the store, the bill was confiscated.
Officers were dispatched to a South Wilkinson Street address in reference to the theft of a leather wallet from a vehicle at approximately 8:52 p.m. Jan. 19. The owner of the vehicle went to his car around 8:50 p.m. and noticed that items had been moved around and out of order. The missing wallet contained $45, his Georgia driver's license, social security card and a Hamilton State Bank debit card.
