A community trip to Casino Drive in Cherokee, N.C. will take place on Saturday, July 20. Transportation will be provided, and the group will leave at 8 a.m. from the Piggly Wiggly on the Southside. June 3-July 19 the Baldwin County Nutrition Department will provide free meals to children. (No meals will be served July 4-5.) The meals will be served at Baldwin High School, Monday-Friday. Breakfast is from 7:30-9 a.m. and lunch is from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. A school bus will also deliver and serve lunches throughout the community. Communities In Schools has partnered with Baldwin Family Connection to hold a School Uniform Drive until July 31. New and gently used clothing will help provide uniforms to students in need. Acceptable clothing items are: khaki, black or navy pants and white, navy, red or black shirts with collars. Clothes can be dropped off Monday-Thursday at the Board of Education, Communities In Schools (GC, 101 Chappell Hall), Northridge Christian Church (after July 7) and First United Methodist Church.
Saturday, July 6
9 a.m.: A yoga class taught by Xan Nichols is held at the Oconee River Greenway. Bring a yoga mat and/or towel as well as bug spray. All ages welcome. $3/1 hour session.
9 a.m.-noon: The Greenway Farmers Market is held at the Oconee River Greenway, Highway 22 East.
10 a.m.-4 p.m.: The Gordon Woman's Club Fleamarket will be held at 110 College St., Gordon. The cafe will be open and serving barbecue as well as desserts. There will be furniture, gadgets, clothes, etc. Vendor spaces are available for $5, call 478-233-3003.
3 p.m.: The Readers Book Club meets at the Milledgeville Mall food court to discuss its current selection. Be prepared to suggest or vote on a book for the group to read. The club is free and open to the community.
