MILLEDGEVILLE — The Oconee Center will undergo a CARF International Survey April 23-25.

Georgia’s Old Capital Museum Society will hold its annual spring fundraiser Moonlight on the Capitol: Moonlight and Magnolias April 25 from 6-10 p.m. at 201 E. Greene St.

Baldwin County Fire Rescue, the Civitan Club and Flooring America will host a Smoke Gets in Your Eyes Festival April 26 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Flooring America, 50 Highway 22 W. There will be a silent auction, door prizes, fire trucks, Sparky the Fire Dog and food, music, fun and games for children. Tickets are $10 and proceeds will go to purchase sealed lithium smoke detectors for Baldwin County citizens.

GMC will hold a blood drive at the Cordell Event Center from noon to 5 p.m. for the Armed Services Blood Program, the official United States military blood program. For more information contact 478-387-4718.

The Sallie Ellis Davis House is currently showcasing the exhibit “Prominent Black Educators.” The show features painted portraits of local educators accompanied by biographies. The exhibit will run until April 30. Tickets are $3 for adults, $2 for seniors; university faculty, staff and students are free. For information call 478-445-4545.

The Milledgeville Youth Program will be offering free tutoring four days a week for five weeks for grades three through 12 at CGTC from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. Volunteers are welcome and students are asked to bring their work assignments. Camp Good Grief is now accepting applications. The deadline to apply is May 5.

Free IMPACT pre-service training classes will be offered for those interested in becoming a foster or adoptive parent. Classes will begin May 3 and go through June 14. Families are asked to attend all classes, which will be held on Saturdays. For more information contact 478-445-7020.



Saturday, April 19

7:45 a.m.: The Oconee Valley Iris Club will hold its annual Spring show at the Milledgeville Mall. Entries will be accepted from 7:45 to 10:30 a.m. and judging will begin at 11. The show is free and open to the public from 1 p.m. to 4:30. Irises will be on sale at a bargain price.

9 a.m. to noon: The Green Farmer’s Market (formerly known as the Greenway Farmer’s Market) is open at the new Market Park Pavilion downtown. There will be live music, fresh produce and other vendors.

9 a.m.: Plantation Quilters meet at the visitor center at Jarrell Plantation near Juliette. Dues are $10 a year. Bretta Perkins 478-986-5172.

10 a.m.: Hancock County will host a countywide Easter Egg hunt sponsored by the SBCBRC. The event will be held at Hancock Memorial Hospital, Linton Road, Sparta. Refreshments will be served.

10:30 a.m.: A Confederate Memorial Day ceremony will be held at Memory Hill Cemetery. The public is invited.

11:30 a.m.: The Volunteer Examiner Team of the Baldwin County Amateur Radio Club administers Amateur Radio Amateur license levels the third Saturday of each month. April’s testing will be at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church annex, 220 S. Wayne St.
