MILLEDGEVILLE — Golden Corral, 1913 N. Columbia St., will hold a pre-Super Bowl tailgate party with NFL stars Feb. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m. Present will be NFL stars James Butler, Leroy Hill and Tye Hill. Two raffles will be held, one for 30 days of free meals and another for a personalized football.

AARP Foundation TaxAide volunteers will be in the area from Feb. 2 through April 15. To apply visit www.aarp.org/taxaide.

The BHS School Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. in Room 200 Feb. 3.

The Oconee Master Gardeners Association and the Putnam County Cooperative Extension invites all interested parties to attend a Feb. 12 class on Gardening with Limitations. This is the second part of a four part series. The class will be 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Hut, 400A West Marion St., Eatonton. Contact 706-485-4151 to pre-register for the free class. CGTC is seeking entries from Baldwin County students for its Manufacturing Appreciation Week Design Contest. For information on the contest contact Anita Martin at amartin@centralgatech.edu. The deadline for entries is Jan. 31.

Through a strategic partnership with the Development Authority of Milledgeville-Baldwin County, along with other key stakeholders including local governing bodies, colleges and the hospital, are helping to lead an effort to create a new community vision and strategic plan. The goal is to develop a shared vision for the local community, with identifiable action items that we can work toward implementing that will lead to more jobs in the community. Community input through the online survey is a critical component necessary to provide the foundation of the plan and benchmarks for planning the future.  Local residents are encouraged to log onto milledgevillega.com and share their thoughts on community actions and services. Survey respondents can enter to win one of five $50 gift certificates to local Chamber businesses.  

Milledgeville Main Street introduces Downtown Dollars, gift certificates to support local businesses. They can be purchased in denominations of $5 and can be used at more than 30 locations downtown. They can be purchased in the Main Street office, 127 E. Hancock St. For a list of participating merchants visit the Main Street Facebook.

Creekside Elementary is having a winter coat drive and is collecting new and gently used coats for children’s size six and adult small. Please drop off coats at the Communities in Schools office at Creekside or call the coordinator, Mrs. Specht, at 478-456-3127.

Wednesday, Jan. 29

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey 706-473-0431.

10:30 a.m.-noon: Free computer classes for seniors will be held at the Senior Citizens Center in Baldwin County.

1 p.m.: Falun Gong exercise class will be held at Central City Park (formerly Bonner Park) free of charge. Cultivate mind and body with five sets of easy-to-learn exercises good for all ages and all physical conditions. For more information call 478-453-4241.
