MILLEDGEVILLE — Maddox Investing in America Inc. will be providing free sack lunches to children in low-income areas on Saturdays and Sundays during the summer. Volunteers are needed to help package and deliver the lunches. If you would like to volunteer please contact Timothy and Tarneshia Maddox at 478-696-0112 or 478-234-9283.

June 3 through July 19 the Baldwin County Nutrition Department provides free meals to children. (No meals will be served July 4-5.) The meals will be served at Baldwin High School, Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A school bus will deliver and serve lunch to the following sites: Graham Homes, 11 a.m.; Duplex City, 11:25 a.m.; GNETS, 11:45 a.m.; River Bend Apartments, 12:10 p.m.; The Manor, 12:40 p.m.; Finnagan’s Mobile Home Park, 1:05 p.m.; 5th Street Mobile Home Park, 1:30 p.m.; and Lockwood Mobile Home Park, 1:50 p.m. There are no income or registration requirements and any child up to age 18 may eat free. The Haddock Community Enrichment Center is a new non-profit organization to be located at 187 Peach St., Haddock, formerly Idella Duncan Elementary School. A Steak Plate Sale to benefit the renovation will be held on June 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Piggly Wiggly on North Columbia Street in Milledgeville. June 15 and 22 the Kappa League will hold a Karwash/Yard Sale at Century Bank on North Columbia Street. All proceeds from the event will be sent to Moore, Okla. in support of tornado victims.

Throughout June the Animal Rescue Foundation Inc. (ARF) will hold a cat adoption special. The adoption fee special is $25 for teenage and adult cats that have been at the shelter since before May 20. ARF is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. ARF is located at 711 S. Allied Arts is hosting Summer Art Camps for Youth that will take place through June and July. Topics include cartooning, illustration, acting, water color, drawing, print making, theatre and a ‘sampler’ camp. For more information call 478-452-3950 or visit milledgevillealliedarts.com.



Tuesday, June 4

10:30 a.m.: A Senior Olympic badminton club will be held at the Baldwin County Recreation Department gym.

11 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Cafe Central is open every Tuesday at Freedom Church in Milledgeville. A free meal will be served to everyone who comes. For information on volunteering, call 478-453-4400.

12:30 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Plaza Arts Center, 305 N. Madison Ave. in Eatonton. For more information contact Betty Roper at 706-467-3079.

12:45 p.m.: The Milledgeville Kiwanis Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club. Visitors are welcome to the program and to lunch with a club sponsor.

2 p.m.: The Milledgeville-Baldwin Chamber will host a ribbon cutting for TenderCare Clinic, 111 Fieldstone Drive.

3 to 5 p.m.: Digital Bridges Open Computer Clinic is open in the Knight Community Innovation Center, 127 W. Hancock St. Work station availability is limited. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. 4 to 7 p.m.: The Milledgeville Marketplace Farmers Market is held at 222 E. Hancock Street in Downtown Milledgeville (Next to the Golden Pantry). Free parking available. Call 478-414-4014 for information.

4:30 p.m.: The Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting at Blandy Hills Elementary in recognition of the erection of its Partners in Education sign.

6 p.m.: The County Commission meets in the Baldwin County Courthouse in Rm. 319.

6:30 p.m.: American Legion Auxiliary Post 523 meets at 430 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. All members are urged to attend.

7 p.m.: The Sweet Georgia Sound Sweet Adeline Chorus meets at Vineville Christian Towers to practice, socialize and sing. It is for women only. 478-932-5387.
