MILLEDGEVILLE — The Old Governor’s Mansion will feature Civil War era exhibits and lectures throughout October and November. “What We Wore on our Heads: An Exhibition of Civil War Era Headwear” will be on display from Oct. 1 - Nov. 2. “Lincoln: the Constitution and the Civil War” will be on display Oct. 2 - Nov. 15. “Out the Change the World: The Life and Works of John Oliver Killins” will be featured at the Sallie Ellis Davis House from Oct. 3 - 30. “Picket’s Charge: A Novel” will be presented by Charles McNair Oct. 26 at 6 p.m.Tri-County EMC is hosting a design contest Oct. 1 - Nov. 8 for its 2013 Christmas Card. The Bicycling Club of Milledgeville will hold its second annual Deep Roots Charity Bike Ride beginning at 9 a.m. at the Central State Hospital Pecan Grove. Registration begins at 9 a.m. The five-mile Family Fun Ride is free to all participants, but the longer routes cost $40 per entrant. NSDAR will host a 50th anniversary Commemorative Event honoring those who served in the Vietnam War Oct. 20 from 3-4 p.m. at the Birdsong Recreation Center of the Georgia War Veteran’s Home, 2249 Vinson Highway, Ga. Highway 112 S. The speaker will be Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Thomas Greer.

The Oconee Regional Symphony Orchestra will perform a free concert, Piano Passion, on Oct. 20 at 5 p.m. at Russell Auditorium.

A Harvest Festival and Petting Zoo will be held on Oct. 27 starting at 9:45 a.m. at New Vision COGIC, 941 Dunlap Road. There will be food and prizes.
