The Fifth Annual Old Capitol City Classic 5K Road Race and 1-Mile Fun Run is accepting pre-registration until Aug. 21. The event is sponsored by the Oconee Regional Healthcare Foundation and will be held at the Medical Center, 821 N. Cobb St., on Aug. 31. The Georgia Department of Labor Milledgeville Career Center will host the Mobile Vet Center on Aug. 23 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at 156 Roberson Mill Road. The mobile center will provide counseling, outreach and referral services to veterans and their families to help them readjust to civilian life.

Monday, Aug. 19

The Wills for Heroes project will be at the Baldwin County Courthouse to assist first responders with wills and end of life planning documents. This is a free service. Members from the Baldwin County Bar Association will be on hand.

7:30 a.m.: Lake Oconee Promise Keepers meets at The River of Life center on Scott Road. Jack Minchey 706-473-0431.

10 a.m.-4 p.m.: The Oconee Center Community Service Board will hold a work session and budget discussion. The meeting will be held at 131 N. Jefferson St. The public is invited. For more information contact Kenyetta Hightower at 478-445-4817.

2 p.m.: Operation Safe Home will distribute smoke alarms to needy citizen’s free of charge at the Milledgeville Fire Department, 201 W. Thomas St.

Noon: Sinclair Water Authority will hold a Financial Committee Meeting at 126 Cay Drive.

Noon-4 p.m.: Harriet's Closet, a free supply closet to help fill the needs of cancer patients, is open. The nonprofit organization dedicated to helping cancer patients in Central Georgia has relocated next door to Georgia Cancer Specialists building at Oconee Regional Medical Center. Noon: Milledgeville Exchange Club meets at the Milledgeville Country Club

5-7 p.m.: Mary Vinson Memorial Library and Digital Bridges host a Computer Clinic at the Library, 151 S. Jefferson St. The clinic is designed to teach basic skills to adult beginning computer users. Participants may come with specific questions or for general knowledge. For more information call 478-387-0254 or e-mail daniel@thedigitalbridges.org to reserve your slot or volunteer.

6:30 p.m.: The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 523 meets at the American Legion Post 523 on Martin Luther King Drive.

7 p.m.: BINGO is held at the American Legion on Log Cabin Road. No one under the age of 18 is permitted. Refreshments are sold by the Ladies Auxiliary. 478-452-8538.

7:30 p.m.: The Oconee River Buskers Square Dance Club meets at the Walter B. Williams Recreation Center.
