MILLEDGEVILLE — The Old Governor’s Mansion presents its Christmas at the Mansion tours Dec. 3-23. Candlelight tours will feature the First Baptist Church Handbell Choir (Dec. 19).

Animal Rescue Foundation will he holding a low cost spay and neuter clinic Dec. 30 in the Petsense parking lot, 2470 N. Columbia St. Contact 478-550-5050 to schedule your appointment.

Milledgeville Main Street introduces Downtown Dollars, gift certificates to support local businesses. They can be purchased in denominations of $5 and can be used at more than 30 locations downtown. They can be purchased in the Main Street office, 127 E. Hancock St. For a list of participating merchants visit the Main Street Facebook.

The 2012 Georgia River of Words exhibition is open and available for viewing from now until early December at the Mary Vinson Memorial Library, 151 S. Jefferson St. River of Words is an international environmental poetry and arts project that is coordinated by Georgia Project WET and the Georgia Center for the Book. Creekside Elementary is having a winter coat drive and is collecting new and gently used coats for children’s size six and adult small. Please drop off coats at the Communities in Schools office at Creekside or call the coordinator, Mrs. Specht, at 478-456-3127.

Thursday, Dec. 19

10 a.m.-2 p.m.: Harriet's Closet is open. It is located next to the Cancer Treatment Center at Oconee Regional Medical Center and provides items free of charge to cancer patients and survivors.  This non-profit organization is dedicated to helping cancer patients in the Oconee region.  For more information or to volunteer, please call 478-457-2124.   

Noon: The Rotary meets at the Country Club.

Noon: The Eatonton Kiwanis Club meets at Central Georgia Tech on the James Marshall bypass.

1 p.m.: The Eatonton Duplicate Bridge Club, an official member of the American Contract Bridge League, meets at the Eatonton Performing Arts Center at Madison Avenue in Eatonton. Come with a partner or e-mail Pat Turney at turney@plantationcable.net for a possible partner match.

2-5 p.m.: Free HIV testing at 900 Barrows Ferry Road. 478-445-5518.

6:30 p.m.: The John Milledge Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, meet at the Milledgeville Country Club.

7 p.m.: The Milledgeville Lions Club meets at the Golden Corral on North Columbia Street.

7:30 p.m.: Lake Country Twirlers is a square dance club that meets at the Harmony Association Building on Highway 44.
