MILLEDGEVILLE — Oconee Regional Healthcare Foundation's Samuel M. Goodrich, M.D., Endowed Healthcare Scholarship is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year. Application packets have been sent to area colleges and universities that offer degrees in healthcare fields of study. Scholarships will be made in amounts ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for the academic year. Applications for the Scholarship Fund can be obtained by visiting www.oconeeregional.com and clicking on the “Foundation” tab.

The Lake Oconee Bible Bee is excited to announce the beginning of the 5th Bible Bee season. Family registration runs from April 1 through May 31, and study materials will be released on June 1. The Lake Oconee Bible Bee will be holding monthly fun family activities in preparation for the local contest, which will be held on August 24 at Lake Oconee Presbyterian Church. The competition challenges youth from ages seven to 18 years in Bible knowledge and memorization first at local contests held around the country at the end of August, and then at a National Competition held in November for the top 300 contestants from across the nation. June 3 through July 19 the Baldwin County Nutrition Department provides free meals to children. (No meals will be served July 4-5.) The meals will be served at Baldwin High School, Monday through Friday. Breakfast is served from 7:30 to 9 a.m. and lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A school bus will deliver and serve lunch to the following sites: Graham Homes, 11 a.m.; Duplex City, 11:25 a.m.; GNETS, 11:45 a.m.; River Bend Apartments, 12:10 p.m.; The Manor, 12:40 p.m.; Finnagan’s Mobile Home Park, 1:05 p.m.; 5th Street Mobile Home Park, 1:30 p.m.; and Lockwood Mobile Home Park, 1:50 p.m. There are no income or registration requirements and any child up to age 18 may eat free. For the month of June the Animal Rescue Foundation Inc. (ARF) is having a cat adoption special called Rainbow of Cats because their cats are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. The adoption fee special is only $25 for teenage and adult cats who have been at the shelter since before May 20. ARF is open Monday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. ARF is located at 711 S.
