Support Baldwin's educational future

MILLEDGEVILLE — For the past two years local bands and choirs have joined forces to present a musical delight on Grant Parade, while also uniting with community to take a stand for education. The third annual Christmas benefit concert is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday and will feature area high and middle school choirs, with a few additional school performances this year.

Local bands and choirs will be featured, Santa will even make an appearance, but the real star is CISMBC and its mission.

During the one-hour program, attendees can donate additional funds to support CISMBC, which will help provide Baldwin County students with school supplies and uniforms, as well as tutoring and mentoring opportunities.

Proceeds generated through admission will go to support CISMBC's mission, one we should all get behind.

Baldwin County's educational future depends upon the extent of its support and how that support is reciprocated for the betterment of local schools.

We must remain diligent in continuing the message that a literate, educated community is a community with a strong foundation for building economic development and job growth, and the only way this is possible is through our schools and community working together to promote and encourage high school completion or earning a GED, as well as receiving advanced education.

Bundle up, bring a blanket and make plans to attend Tuesday's performance and hear some of the area's talented local students usher in the holiday season while joining the fight for improving education.
