The Union-Recorder

Employees at a West McIntosh Street law office reported a break-in sometime before 8:42 a.m. July 3. Upon arriving at work, several employees noticed that someone had broken into the French doors in one of the offices and ransacked the other offices in the building. A bottle of cognac and a semi-automatic gun were reported missing from one of the offices.

Officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Walmart July 5 in reference to a man appearing to be under the influence of drugs. Upon arrival, they met with the driver and conducted a field sobriety test. The man was unable to stand on his feet and was leaning against the bed of his truck.

Theft by Taking

Officers were dispatched to a North Columbia Street car dealership at approximately 1:15 p.m. July 3 in reference to the theft of a vehicle. The sales manager informed police that they sold the man the vehicle on July 1, but financing fell through on the purchase of the truck. Attempts were made by phone to try and retrieve the vehicle, but the numbers the man gave did not work. When they went to the address listed on purchase documents, they discovered that the man did not live there.
