MILLEDGEVILLE — Theft by Taking

The owner of a heating and cooling business on Prosser Road reported that one of his employees has been stealing from him. On Sept. 17, the owner discovered that the employee had been using the company credit/debit card for personal use throughout the month of August. Bank statements along with receipts from Lowe’s contained documented transactions of unauthorized use of the card for several items.

Criminal Damage to Property

Deputies were dispatched to a South Jefferson Street apartment Sept. 16 in reference to damage to a vehicle. The complainant stated that someone scratched her vehicle sometime before Sept. 16 when she discovered the damage. The deputies observed multiple scratches in the driver’s door that spelled out a derogatory name.

Driving While License Suspended

While patrolling the area of North Columbia Street around 1 p.m. Sept. 17 a deputy observed a vehicle attempt to change lanes without signaling and almost collide with another vehicle traveling beside him. Upon initiating a traffic stop, the driver presented the officer his driver’s license, per request of the deputy. Upon running the driver’s information, dispatch alerted the officer that the license was suspended for child support obligations.

DUI/alcohol

A man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol after failing to maintain lane of travel on Irwinton Road Sept. 17. While patrolling the area, a deputy noticed the vehicle having problems staying in its lane. When the car completely ran off the roadway and onto the right hand shoulder, the officer initiated a traffic stop. After conducting a field sobriety test, the man was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and transported to the Milledgeville Police Department for further testing.

Theft by Taking

A man at a Nelson Road address reported the theft of scrap air condition coils and copper from his property Sept. 16. The complainant stated when he went to check on the items that had been placed in his backyard Sept. 15, he discovered that it was missing. He checked with Ace Recyling, A&M scrap, and Buddy’s Recycling to inquire about anyone bringing in large amounts of scrap metal but there was nothing to report.
