Theft by Taking
Officers were dispatched to a North Wayne Street apartment at approximately 4:35 a.m. Sept. 11 in reference to a stolen wallet. The complainant stated that he was letting a friend of his stay with him for a couple of days. The two men fell asleep on different sofas in the apartment. When the man woke up, his friend was gone and his wallet was missing.
A woman reported the theft of $1,750 for the purchase of a car through Craig’s List. The complainant told officers that she was under the impression that she was sending her money to a car seller in regards to a listing on Craig’s List. She followed the seller’s instructions and sent the money by Moneygram but when she contacted the recipient for further instructions, she was told that the company didn’t exist.
At approximately 8:04 a.m. Sept. 9, an officer met with a complainant who stated that an unknown person had entered his vehicle while it was parked at a West Greene Street location. The complainant parked the car in the area of West Greene Street and South Tattnall Street the night before. When he walked to his vehicle the following morning, he noticed some pens that he kept in the door’s side compartment had been thrown around. An unknown amount of change from the car’s change tray, a blue checkbook, a garage door opener, and an unsigned check for $15 was reported stolen.
Theft by Shoplifting
A Walmart loss prevention employee reported the theft of store merchandise by a female Sept. 9. The female was seen with a shopping cart filled with clothing. She moved to the grocery section of the store and attempted to exit the building without paying. She was stopped at the last point of sale. Grabbing some of the clothes from the cart, she ran into the parking lot, where she was apprehended by a Walmart employee.
