Crime Digest

MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Milledgeville Police Department

Entering Auto

A vehicle owner reported Nov. 11 that his truck was entered while it was parked at his place of business on South Elbert Street. His checkbook and a license plate were stolen.

Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement

An individual was arrested Nov. 11 after officers were called to a residence in regards to the woman attempting to drive while intoxicated. As the parties involved waited on a taxi to arrive the woman began using abusive and profane language. She was handcuffed and transported to the police department. During the drive she forcibly removed her handcuffs and began to strike the cage window while screaming. At the police department she had to be forced to the ground to be handcuffed. She was charged with obstruction of law enforcement, public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.

Hit and Run

Officers responded to Ernest Byner Street on Nov. 11 where a woman reported that someone had dented and scratched the driver’s side of her vehicle.

Theft by Taking

An man reported Nov. 16 that he had to leave a grapple bucket at an individual’s residence and when he returned to retrieve the item it was missing. He was unable to contact the individual. Officers were able to locate the item at a recycling center where it had been taken for cash.

Theft of Mislaid Property

A woman reported Nov. 16 that she left her purse on a bench outside a downtown business and when she returned to retrieve it it was gone. The phone was located using an application, but the purse and its other contents remain missing. The individual in possession of the phone was charged with theft of mislaid property.

Fraud

A man reported Nov. 16 that someone he knows has written fraudulent checks on his bank account.
