Theft by Shoplifting
Deputies were dispatched to Dollar General on North Columbia Street May 24 in reference to a shoplifting case. Upon arrival officers made contact with the complainant, an employee of the store, who stated that she observed a woman stealing items and placing them in two shopping bags. The woman was seen making several trips to her car, and the employee was uncertain as to how much merchandise she had stolen.
A woman at an Irwinton Road address reported a break-in sometime between May 17 and May 20. The woman told deputies that she was in the process of moving and had not been at the location since Friday, May 17. When she returned May 20 she discovered the side entry door open. A musical keyboard and a 47-inch LG HD television were reported missing from the home.
Criminal Damage to Property
Deputies were dispatched to an Ebony Road residence at approximately 6 p.m. May 18 in reference to a call of criminal damage to property. Upon arrival, the residence owner told officers that she discovered scratches on her daughter’s car. The woman said that her daughter was at a sleepover at a friend’s house in Wilkinson County the night the damage was done.
Theft of Service
An employee of the Tri-County EMC reported the theft of electrical service by the owners of a Sinclair Marina Road address. At approximately 11:30 a.m. May 20 the man disconnected the service at the residence due to non-payment. When he checked on the property around 10 a.m. May 21 he discovered that someone cut the tab from the meter cover and placed another unknown meter to the meter power supply in order to obtain electricity.
