MILLEDGEVILLE — Man struck by vehicle on Evans Street
From staff reports
Milledgeville Police responded Friday to a vehicle accident involving a pedestrian that occurred around 10 p.m. the previous day.
According to an incident report from MPD, the victim told police that while he was walking up Evans Street a white Honda Accord slowly crept up behind him. He said he moved to the side of the road so that the car could pass him. The car drove up behind him again, striking him, which caused him to land on the hood of the car. The victim added, after landing on the hood he then rolled off and his foot got caught underneath the hood. After the accident, he said he got up and limped home.
One of the officers asked the victim if he knew the driver of the vehicle and he admitted to knowing the passenger but not the driver.
Police contacted the passenger and questioned her about the incident. The woman said the victim was walking up Evans Street while she and the driver were headed to the convenience store. The driver rode slowly behind the man and he moved to the side so they could pass. She added that the victim continued to "play" with the driver as the car continued to drive up behind him. He then jumped on the hood of the car. After jumping on the hood, the passenger said that the driver sped up, then stopped suddenly. The abrupt stop caused the man to fall to the ground while his leg was still under the bumper of the vehicle.
Attempts were made by police to contact the driver via phone but she was unable to be reached. Charges are pending.
