Fleeing/Attempting to Elude Officer

Sheriff's office patrol units conducted a highway safety checkpoint April 27 at the intersection of North Main Street and Lockwood Street. During patrol, deputies noticed a maroon Honda Accord make an improper U-turn to avoid the checkpoint area. A traffic stop was attempted and the driver refused to yield. The vehicle turned left onto Selma Drive and continued a short distance until it came to a complete stop. The driver was issued citations for improper U-turn, driving while license suspended and fleeing/attempting to elude.

Theft by Taking

Deputies were dispatched to an Old Stage Drive residence April 27 in reference to the theft of money. A woman told deputies that her juvenile grandson stole $45 from her purse. The juvenile admitted to taking the money and giving it to a friend to buy marijuana.

Public Nuisance Animal

A woman at a Brown’s Crossing residence reported her neighbor's dog on her property around 4 p.m. April 25. She told the deputy that when she arrived home she found her neighbor's brown haired dog in her yard and she feared for her life. According to the woman, she has had numerous incidents with her neighbor in regards to the dog. When arriving at the owner's home, the deputy was bitten by the dog twice on her leg. She advised the owners to restrain the dog by placing him on a leash. The dog was turned over to Baldwin County Animal Control.

Nuisance Animal

On April 23 a deputy reported to a Woods Drive address in reference to damage to two of a man’s vehicles caused by a cat. The man told the deputy that a neighbor's cat jumped on his two vehicles and scratched both the hoods. The deputy observed cat paw prints and scratches on a Mitsubishi Galant and a GMC Sierra, both parked at the owner's home. Upon speaking with the neighbor, he told the deputy that the cat did not belong to him and that he just hung around his house. Baldwin County Animal Control was contacted.
