MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
A deputy was dispatched to Oconee Regional Medical Center in reference to fight that occurred at a Hodges Lake Road address Sept. 1. Upon arrival the officer made contact with the complainant who stated that a physical altercation between him and another man occurred earlier in the night. He said that the man hit him because he was jealous of his girlfriend.
Theft by Taking
Deputies were dispatched to an Old Monticello Road address Aug. 30 in reference to the theft of items from a wallet. The complainant stated that he left his wallet on top of his car when he was driving on Meriwether Road. When he retraced his steps to the location, he found his wallet, but discovered that his credit card and his Delaware driver’s license were missing.
Deputies were dispatched to a Moore Street address Sept. 2 in reference to an assault. Upon arrival they met with the complainant who stated that a man walked up to her and struck her in the head with a closed fist for no reason. The deputies observed that the woman had a large swollen area on her forehead.
While patrolling the area of Irwinton Road on Sept. 3, a deputy observed a vehicle failing to maintain lanes. Upon initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of Irwinton Road and Harrisburg Road, the officer detected a strong odor of an unknown alcoholic beverage coming from the driver. After conducting a roadside sobriety test, the driver was charged with one count driving under the influence and cited for failure to maintain lane.
While investigating an altercation on Aug. 30, a deputy observed a man staggering in the street in front of Allen Memorial Drive. The man stumbled toward the location where the incident took place and began talking to the mother of the complainant while the officer was trying to question her. While trying to get the man to leave the scene, the deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him.
