MILLEDGEVILLE — Theft by taking

Officers were dispatched to a West Hancock Street restaurant April 5 in reference to a theft by taking call. A man reported that an unknown male took a brown suede jacket. When the victim and his girlfriend left the restaurant, an unknown man began yelling racial slurs at them. The couple started to walk away from the man, when the victim's jacket accidentally fell to the ground. The man picked it up and ran away.

Theft by shoplifting

The manager of a North Columbia Street grocery store reported the theft of food items from the deli by a man April 3. The man ordered fried chicken and cornbread from the deli and walked around the store until he ate it all.

Theft by shoplifting

An employee of a North Columbia Street store reported the theft of several store items by a female at approximately 9:11 p.m. April 5. The woman walked into the store with a flat purse, claiming that she was looking for her kids in the store. When she left, her purse was filled with miscellaneous items. When an attempt was made to question her, the woman fled the store.

Theft by conversion

A woman reported that a man illegally sold her laptop computer. At approximately 12:21 p.m. April 5 the woman called the man to her home to fix her desktop and laptop computer. He told the woman that he needed to take the laptop with him to get it fixed. The woman informed the man that she would pay him for his services after she returned from her trip and received her repaired laptop. When the woman returned from her trip to retrieve her computer, the man said he sold it to pay for the computer repair services he had already performed for her.
