MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.
Milledgeville Police Department
A woman reported March 24 that someone scratched the hood of her car while it was parked on Wilbur Court.
A man was arrested March 25 while at the Oconee Greenway. Officers approached him and noted the smell of marijuana while they were speaking. He was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
Financial Transaction Card Fraud
A woman reported March 25 that her bank had advised her that someone was using her debit card in Lithonia and had spent $331.72.
Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
A man was arrested March 26 after officers reported to a residence on Robin Circle in relation to a potentially stolen tag. The vehicle was to be towed, but the tag on the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Gwinnett County. The owner of the vehicle claimed it belonged to his brother, and it was later confirmed that he provided a false name. He was charged with theft by receiving stolen property and giving false information.
Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office
A resident of Stevens Drive reported March 14 that someone entered his home and stole approximately $450 in change.
A man was arrested March 15 after a woman in his car contacted the police and reported that he refused to stop the car and let her out. He was arrested in Putnam County and turned over to Baldwin County Sheriff's deputies. He was charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment.
Driving While License Suspended
Officers pulled over a vehicle that was displaying a temporary tag March 16 and when they made contact with the driver they were informed he was driving without a valid license. He was cited for the offense.
A woman reported March 15 that a vehicle on her Highway 49 property had been shot. The window that had been shot had a small hole and was shattered.
A Covey Road resident reported March 15 that someone approached her home and struck her front door in a way that frightened her before the individual ran down the steps and to a vehicle that then drove away.
n Driving While License Suspended
A vehicle was pulled over March 16 after officers witnessed the driver make an illegal right turn. She was cited for the offense and also arrested because her license was suspended.
A woman reported March 16 that when she went to an Azalea Circle home March 16 to retrieve a food stamp card the individual who had been using it exited the home and began to strike her about the head and arms.
Driving While Unlicensed
Officers initiated a traffic stop on Allen Memorial Drive March 14 after seeing a vehicle without a functioning left headlight. The driver was arrested for driving without a license.
A Corral Road resident reported March 16 that someone pulled up her mailbox from the ground along with decorations surrounding it.
A Lee Street resident reported March 20 that a woman came to her home and after an argument threw a rock at her vehicle, chipping the paint.
A woman reported March 20 that when she attempted to open an account with a cable company she was informed that she already had an account and that it was past due.
A woman reported March 14 that her bank informed her that someone in South Carolina had attempted to open three bank accounts with her social security number.
