MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

Simple Assault

Officers responded to a call about an individual making threats at a Harrisburg Road resident March 2. No arrests were made.

Duty to Stop

A vehicle owner reported March 5 that someone struck his vehicle damaging the left front bumper.

Driving While Unlicensed

A vehicle was pulled over March 5 for a suspended registration and the driver was arrested for operating it and driving without a license.

Theft by Taking

A deputy was dispatched to a mobile home park on North Columbia Street March 3 around 8:08 a.m. in regards to a theft that had occurred Jan. 27. Upon viewing a video surveillance tape, the office manager reported seeing an unknown man taking money out of the Coke machine. He added that the man was also seen on tape using a key to open the machine to remove the money.

Theft by Taking

A deputy was dispatched to a Cicada Drive residence around 4:22 p.m. March 8 in reference to the theft of a bicycle. The complainant stated that between Feb. 15 and March 7 someone stole his daughter’s bicycle from the front yard of their home. He reported finding the bicycle in possession of his neighbor’s child. When the deputy questioned the mother of the child in possession of the bike, she said the bike was found on the side of the road.  


March 8 at about 5:02 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to Oconee Regional Medical Center in regards to a battery that had occurred at an Allen Memorial Drive residence. The victim told the deputy that while he was at a friend’s house they got into an argument over a statement he made about her sexual orientation. The argument escalated into a physical altercation in which she caused a minor cut on him with a razor blade.

A South Wayne Street bank reported March 6 that an individual attempted to deposit a counterfeit $100 bill.

Theft by Shoplifting

A loss prevention associate at a North Columbia Street business reported March 6 that a woman attempted to steal $108 worth of infant clothing. She was arrested and charged with theft by shoplifting.

Theft by Taking

A woman reported that while at a restaurant on North Columbia Street someone stole her wallet. The suspected individual was contacted and turned the wallet over to police March 6. His wife later turned in $500 cash to the police department. Charges filed were dropped.

Theft by Deception

A husband and wife reported March 7 that an individual on Craig’s List scammed them out of $298 when they attempted to purchase a washing machine from him.
