MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Burglary

A resident of Shiloh Avenue reported Jan. 11 that someone entered his home and stole a food stamp card, a set of keys and three packs of cigarettes.

Possession

An officer initiated a traffic stop Jan. 13 after seeing a vehicle improperly merge and nearly cause a wreck. The officer could smell marijuana during the traffic stop and the individuals were removed from the vehicle one by one to be searched. Two of the four individuals were found to be in possession of drugs, both were arrested. One man was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, the other was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.

Battery

An off duty sheriff’s deputy was involved in an altercation Jan. 11 with an individual in a store after witnessing the man putting merchandise in his pocket. After the deputy made himself known the individual refused to cooperate and struck him across the face. The individual then fled the scene. He was later arrested and charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officers, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, battery on a law enforcement officer and theft by shoplifting.

Possession

Two men fled from a vehicle Jan. 12 after a traffic stop was initiated on Harrisburg Road. Cocaine was found in the area where one individual had fled from and the same individual was later arrested for possession of cocaine. A second individual was arrested at the scene due to having two outstanding warrants from the Milledgeville Police Department.

Theft by Taking

A woman reported Jan. 11 that two antique dolls were stolen from her Merry Drive home.

Theft by Taking

Two individuals reported Jan. 11 that a laptop and a tablet had been taken from them while they were at a Little Road residence.

Obstruction of Officers

Officers attempted to serve a warrant Jan. 8 and the individual attempted to hide inside the location from them behind a recliner. He was additionally charged with obstruction of officers.
