While patrolling the area of Blandy Road and Highway 49 West around 3:22 a.m. July 15, a deputy observed a vehicle driving with a headlight out and following too closely behind another car. Upon initiating a traffic stop at the intersection of Frank Bone Road and Ivey Drive, the deputy noticed that the driver’s speech was slurred and he detected the smell of an alcoholic beverage. After administering a roadside breath test, the driver was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and given a warning for headlight requirements and following too closely.
A man at an Ebony Lounge Road address reported the theft of a water heater July 15. When he arrived to the property to work on a doublewide that he was remodeling, he noticed that the front door was unlocked. The water heater that he had installed a few days prior was missing, along with a five-gallon bucket.
A woman reported the theft of her purse and cell phone from her vehicle while it was parked at a Moore Street address July 15. While visiting a friend, an unknown man came up to the woman and asked for money. She ignored the man and went out to her car. Once inside, she noticed that her purse and cell phone were missing from inside the car.
A woman at a Laura Court address reported a break-in sometime before 7:45 p.m. July 15. She left the residence around 7 p.m. to pick her son up from football practice. Upon returning, she noticed several items were missing from the home. An Xbox 360 gaming system, two game controllers and three video games were reported missing.
Officers were dispatched to a Grandview Drive residence around 8:38 p.m. in reference to a criminal trespass call. The man living at the residence stated that several individuals were attempting to break into his house. He informed officers that he found himself in a verbal altercation with a group of people at a party he was attending previously at a Grandview Court address. They took offense to a red undershirt and hat that he was wearing and threatened to remove them at a later date. Following the incident, a group of individuals wielding pieces of wood were on his property trying to get inside the house.
Theft of Services
Officers were dispatched to a North Columbia Street restaurant July 14 in reference to theft of services. The cashier at the restaurant stated that a man ordered beer with his dinner using an Alabama driver’s license. When asked to pay for his drinks, he told the staff that his wallet was in his vehicle. He was escorted outside to retrieve his wallet, but instead, got into the truck and drove away. He owed a total of $57.40.
