MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Theft by Shoplifting

Deputies were dispatched to Dollar General on Sparta Highway April 8 in reference to the theft of women's underwear by a male. Upon arrival the store clerk informed deputies that the man was still inside the store and was seen placing several pairs of underwear inside his clothes. When entering the store, the deputies observed the man placing a pair of women's underwear into his left jacket pocket.

Theft by Taking

The owner of a Frazer Drive residence reported the theft of stolen furniture sometime between March 19 and April 6. When going to inspect the property, the woman noticed that a Lanier lounge chair and a front porch wooden rocking chair were missing. The owner suspects the previous owners who were evicted March 19 may be responsible for the theft.


A man at a Sparta Highway address reported the theft of a mower from his residence April 8 around 9:21 a.m. He told the deputy that he noticed his Craftsman self-propelled push mower was stolen from inside his garage. The garage door was left unlocked.

Criminal Trespass

A deputy was dispatched to a Mount Pleasant Church Road address April 8 in reference to a trespassing incident. A man who had previously received a trespass notice on March 17 was seen at the residence. When arriving at the home, the deputy noticed the man playing basketball in the driveway. The owner of the residence told the deputy that the man was asked to leave the home, but he refused.

Theft by Taking

A man at an Old Monticello Road address reported the theft of a tractor April 9 at about 11 a.m. He told the deputy that the last time he saw the tractor was April 6 around noon. When he went to retrieve the tractor from storage he discovered that it was missing.

Theft by Taking

A woman reported the theft of a camera from her Lawrence Road home sometime before April 9. She told the deputy that she noticed her camera was missing from her dresser in her bedroom around 11:30 a.m. The last time she saw it was March 30. She said she believes the camera may be at a pawn shop in Jones County. Information about the camera was entered into the system and all pawn shops in and around Baldwin County were contacted.

Lost Property

A man reported April 11 that while walking on River Ridge Road around 10 a.m. he lost a phone belt carrier that held both his phone and his driver’s license.


Officers responded to reports of a fight on Anthony Way April 11. Two women engaged in an altercation and one of the women had a warrant for simple battery taken in her name.

Disorderly Conduct

A man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness April 12. It had been reported that he knocked down his fiancé and slapped her while they were having an argument.

Terroristic Threats

A brother and sister reported April 12 that while on Earnest Byner Street a man threatened to shoot and kill them. He was issued a warrant for terroristic threats.

Damage to Property

A resident of a Pritchard Street apartment reported April 12 that the front window of her apartment was broken out. Nothing was reported missing.


A local woman reported April 12 that her bank informed her of several fraudulent charges made at a grocery store in College Park.

Theft by Shoplifting

A man was arrested for shoplifting from two different stores on South Wayne Street April 12. The vehicle he left in was pulled over and the stolen merchandise was located in the car. He was charged with his third and fourth shoplifting offenses.

n Fraud

A woman reported April 12 that her bank informed her three charges of approximately $85 each were put on her debit card at a grocery store in Atlanta.

Criminal Trespass

A vehicle owner reported April 12 that while her vehicle was in Cline Avenue a side window was broken out.

Theft by Shoplifting

A Piggly Wiggly employee reported April 12 that a man had left the store with several ‘family packs’ of ground beef stuffed inside his clothing.

Terroristic Threats

Officers responded to reports of a fight at a West Thomas Court residence April 13. An individual was arrested and charged with four counts of terroristic threats and one count of simple battery after he wielded a knife while threatening a group of people.

Theft by Taking

A South Wilkinson Street resident reported April 14 that someone stole his vehicle.

n Interference with Government Property

Officers reported to the intersection of West McIntosh Street and Earnest Byner Street early April 14 because of an alleged fight. While there officers observed a man pick up a large rock, look at their vehicle and then proceed to throw the rock at the windshield of a school bus. He cooperated with police and was arrested and charged with interference with government property and battery.
