MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Theft by Taking

An officer was contacted by a Wal-Mart store manager June 17 in regards to an employee fraudulently using store gift cards. He informed the officer that the employee was fraudulently removing gift cards from inside the business, loading money onto the gift cards and illegally using the stolen funds for personal gain. The woman was arrested and a warrant for theft by taking was signed against her.

Criminal Damage to Property

At about 8:11 a.m. June 18 police were called to a Grimes Avenue address to check on the property at the owner's request. Upon arrival, the officers noticed two broken windows on the north side of the residence. They also discovered a large rock that had been thrown through one of the windows. The west side door was unlocked and a fork was left inside the doorframe. Police also noticed a large shoe print on the door. Officers noted in the report that it appeared that someone attempted to kick the door in. The owner was contacted and notified of the damage. Upon searching the residence, no items were reported missing.

Theft by Taking

Police were dispatched to a North Pickens Street apartment June 18 in reference to a possible stolen bicycle. The victim told the officer that when he walked outside, he noticed that his black 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was missing from the parking space he left it in.

Criminal Damage to Property

An officer reported to a North Columbia Street business in reference to damaged property. Upon arriving, the officer noticed the upper plate glass window of the building had a large whole in the middle of it. The owner of the business was immediately contacted and asked to search the office for anything that seemed out of place or was missing. No items were reported missing. On a desk in the stock area of the store was a piece of cinder block lying on the desk. The owner told the officer that the cinder block was not there last night when he locked up.
