Crime Digest

MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

Theft by Taking

A deputy was dispatched to a Mt. Pleasant Church Road May 27 in reference to a theft that occurred between May 15 and May 27. A woman told the deputy that two propane gas heaters, two air conditioner window units and an antique free standing bar with two bar stools was taken from a rental property she owns. She discovered the items missing from the property around 7:25 a.m. May 27. The deputy noted in the report that there was no forced entry and all doors and windows were locked.

Burglary

A man at an Ivey Drive address reported the theft of items from his home following an altercation he had with six men June 2 around 9 p.m.. The man was involved in a physical altercation between six men but did not notify law enforcement of the incident. He told the deputy that he went to his mother's house after the fight. Upon returning home around 7:30 a.m. June 3, he discovered his flat screen television had been taken from the living room.

Theft by Taking

At about 3:41 p.m. June 5 a man at a Third Street address reported to the sheriff's office the theft of gasoline from a push mower. He said he noticed a strong odor of gasoline coming from the front yard when he went to go check on his dog. He added that he went under the carport and observed the gas cap to his push lawn mower was unscrewed. He also noticed that someone had poured out all the gas which was approximately one gallon of gasoline.  

Theft by Taking

Deputies reported to a Torrance Road address June 3 in reference to the theft of a wallet and damage to a cell phone. The woman told the deputy that a woman that she allows to help out around the house stole her wallet and dropped her Verizon cell phone in a glass of soda before leaving the residence. She provided the deputy with contact information she had for the woman. At the time of the report, contact with the woman was unsuccessful.

Entering Auto

Deputies reported to a North Columbia Street used car lot June 4 in reference to the theft of equipment from cars on the lot. The owner told the deputies that someone stole two Pioneer brand CD players out of two cars located on the lot. The CD players were taken from a black 2001 Hyundai Sonata and a silver 2005 Pontiac Aztec. While checking the lot, deputies also discovered a car battery underneath the rear of another vehicle that had been taken from a 2002 Kia Optima.
