MILLEDGEVILLE — Deputies respond to aggravated assault at residence
From staff reports
Deputies were called out to an aggravated assault incident May 18 involving shots fired.
According to an incident report from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of Merry Drive in reference to shots fired in the area.
Upon arrival he spoke with the complainant who informed him that she was in her bedroom when she heard two gunshots. She went outside and saw two unknown individuals running away from her house. She got into her vehicle and traveled along Merry Drive toward Little Road, hoping to find the person who fired the shots.
She returned and found a black Chevy truck in her driveway. She tried to block the vehicle to prevent it from leaving, but the truck went around her car and left the property.
Additional sheriff’s personnel arrived and informed the reporting deputy that they had just stopped two individuals in a black Chevy truck. Both men admitted they had been in an altercation with two young men who lived at the complainant’s Merry Drive residence.
The woman was asked where the other two individuals were and initially she denied knowing anything about the altercation. After further questioning, she told the deputy that her juvenile son and his 18-year-old brother were inside the home. The two were discovered in the woman’s bedroom — one hiding in the closet under multiple articles of clothing and the other was found in the bathroom.
A .38 special shell casing, one spent .38 special shell casing and one clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana, a Ruger P97 DC Pistol, one Smith and Wesson .38 revolver, one Titanic .32 revolver, and one .40 High Point semi-automatic pistol were found. All four individuals were brought in for further questioning by detectives.
