A store clerk at a Highway 212 gas station reported the theft of $35.01 worth of gas by a man around 4:06 a.m. April 20. The man pumped the gas and drove off without paying for it.

Driving While Unlicensed

While patrolling during a Georgia Highway Safety Checkpoint on North Jefferson Street at approximately 3:25 p.m. April 17, a deputy observed a car avoid the checkpoint. The vehicle pulled into a driveway and backed out to drive in the opposite direction. Upon conducting a traffic stop with the vehicle at a nearby convenience store, officers discovered that the driver did not have a valid driver’s license.

Theft by Taking

A woman at a Lee Street address reported her vehicle was missing at approximately 7:30 p.m. April 21. The woman stated that when she returned home from a jog she noticed that the car was missing and phoned her friend to inquire whether or not he had taken the vehicle. No one else had access to the vehicle, and according to the woman her friend has a habit of leaving the keys in the vehicle with the doors unlocked whenever he borrows it.  

Criminal Damage to Property

A woman reported damage to her vehicle while it was parked at a Sparta Highway convenience store April 15. The woman stated that her vehicle broke down at the store April 11. When she returned to have the vehicle towed, visible damage was seen on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Scratches were made alongside the driver’s door.
