Crime Digest

LAKE OCONEE — Burglary

Officers were dispatched to a Kensington Pond Court address May 31 in reference to a burglary. Upon arrival, officers met with the owner of the residence who informed them that when she came home she discovered that her electronics were missing from the home. An Apple iPad, two Apple product chargers, and a 32-inch flat screen television were reported missing.

Theft by Taking

An officer was dispatched to a Lincoln Street apartment complex May 31 in reference to a theft. A man stated that he let a friend of his borrow a pair of iPod headphones. The friend reported that his ex-girlfriend came by and snatched the headphones off of his head and left with them.

DUI

While patrolling eastbound on West Green Street and approaching the intersection of Greene Street and South Wayne Street, an officer observed a vehicle sitting in the left turn lane westbound at the intersection of Greene Street and South Wayne Street without their headlights on. When the car began to move again, the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were bloodshot and his speech was slurred. After administered an Alco-sensor test, the driver was placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and citations for headlight requirements and seatbelt violations.

Burglary

A man at an East Screven Street address reported a break-in at his apartment May 31. The man informed officers that it appeared as if someone had been through his belongings. No items were reported missing and there was no sign of forced entry into the residence.

Forgery

A woman reported that an unknown person took money from her bank account without her permission. On May 31 at approximately 3:33 p.m. officers met with the woman who informed them that someone wrote a check on her account with Mid-South at a Walmart in Huntsville, Ala. for $76.93. Another attempt was made on her checking account the same day but the bank would not allow it to go through.
