MILLEDGEVILLE — The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office. It is our policy to not disclose the names of victims. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Reckless Conduct

A man was arrested Jan. 1 after it was reported he discharged a firearm in a residential area. He attempted to flee Milledgeville Police Department officers who the first to arrive on the scene. A state warrant for reckless conduct was taken out in his name.


An individual contacted the sheriff's office in regards to found property Jan. 4. The individual showed officers where he had found a safe that had been broken in two along with several items that appeared to have belonged inside the safe. It was later discovered that the safe and its contents belonged to a family in Gordon. The family was contacted and members reported they had noticed their back door open and a utility door damaged. The family later reported that additional items had been stolen.

Driving While License Suspended

An individual was pulled over for speeding Jan. 3 while traveling on 441. His license had been suspended in November 2012 and he was arrested and charged with driving while license suspended and issued a citation for speeding.

Theft by Taking

A woman reported Jan. 6 that she found her jewelry missing while preparing for an evening out. The woman later contacted the sheriff's office to tell them that the missing jewelry had been pawned by her husband, from whom she is separating.

Obstruction of Officers

An individual was arrested Jan. 2 when officers contacted him regarding suspicious behavior. The individual provided a false name and date of birth to the officers and the identity came up with a warrant for probation violation. While officers attempted to handcuff him they searched him and he reacted negatively when they reached for one of his pockets. He had to be physically restrained, and officers found a crack cocaine pipe on his person. He continued to resist the officers while being transported. He was charged with obstruction of law enforcement and giving a false name and date of birth.

Armed Robbery

Two people reported Dec. 27 that three men wearing masks entered a home on North Elbert Street. One of the men was wielding a gun, which he pointed at one of the two people in the home. The individual who was held at gunpoint was able to run from the home to call the police. The three individuals then fled. Nothing was taken.
