Published July 01, 2009 08:00 am - Reports from the Milledgeville Police Department and Baldwin County Sheriff's Office for the day.

Crime Digest, July 1, 2009

The Union-Recorder

The following is information compiled from public records taken from reports of the Milledgeville Police Department and the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office. These reports do not reflect guilt or innocence. An “arrest” does not always indicate incarceration. The charges filed are noted in the narrative.

Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office

— Burglary

A female reported that sometime between June 25 and 26 an unknown person entered her residence, in the 100 block of Daisy Trail, and went through several of her dresser drawers and threw items throughout the residence. The woman said her grandson was at the residence on June 25 and a deputy could not locate a point of entrance because several doors were open. It appeared as though someone had slept in a bed at the residence and attempted to clean up a spill. Upon speaking with the female’s grandson, he told a deputy that he left at 9 p.m. and locked all the doors and windows in the house.

— Theft by taking

A man reported that he was renting a residence in the 100 block of South Main Street to another man and that the tenant had fallen behind on his rent. Due to the man’s lack of payment on rent, the landlord evicted the tenant from the property and the man was told to vacate the residence on June 22. On June 26, the landlord checked the residence and found that the refrigerator and two window air conditioning units were missing from the residence. The landlord also advised that the former tenant left the residence in general disarray.

— Theft by taking

A man reported that someone had entered his residence, in the 2500 block of Belfair Drive, without his permission and removed several items. The man said that he allowed a couple to reside at the location for the last few months, but recently asked them to leave. Both parties left the residence on June 22 but never returned the house key. On June 27, the complainant left the residence and returned on June 28 to find that several items, including a $70 crock pot, a $30 hot plate, a pot and pan and several canned good items from the pantry valued at $100 had been removed from the residence. The complainant advised that he believed both suspects were currently living at the Royal Inn Motel, but the deputy went to the motel and the desk clerk advised him that neither of the suspects had rented a room at the motel last week.

Milledgeville Police Department

— Harassing phone calls

A female reported that between 5 and 7:30 p.m. June 26, an unknown person called her cell phone six times and would not say anything. The woman said she needed a report to get the information needed from her phone service company.

— Theft by receiving stolen property, obstructing police

A man reported that while his truck was being detailed at Simmons Car Wash on June 26, in the 900 block of North Wilkinson Street, his wedding band was taken from the vehicle. The owner of the car wash was able to find the ring at Quality Pawn and the sale of the ring was traced back to an employee of the car wash. Upon being approached at Simmons Car Wash, the man fled on foot, but he was arrested after a brief run and admitted the theft.
