Local educator gets fashion savvy

MILLEDGEVILLE — Amber Patitucci began her career educating Baldwin County youth in 2009 until she recently decided to venture out as an entrepreneur and follow her passion for fashion.

With the support of husband Sergio, Amber officially opened Chatter Boutique Monday next to CT Nails in the Quizno’s shopping center on North Columbia Street.

“I originally wanted to open a gift shop with China and other gifts since I was familiar with those types of things from when I used to work at Pier One Imports. I switched over to clothing after I got tons of requests to open a boutique offering plus-sized clothing,” said the Albany native who formerly taught third-graders at Eagle Ridge Elementary School. “I decided to take a leap of faith as an entrepreneur.”

The contemporary women’s clothing boutique carries a wide range of sizes starting from small and going up to XXXL. Other one-of-a-kind women’s accessories are also available, including jewelry, scarves and purses. Amber plans to offer shoes during the fall and spring seasons.

“All of the items in the store are unique and modestly priced. We have unique items that you will not find at everyday stores; you’re sure not to wear your neighbors’ shirt,” Amber said. “We definitely strive for customer service and we love to pair outfits. We strive to attract a wide market range of ages, from teenagers to women in their 50s.”

Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce representatives welcomed the new business with a ribbon cutting ceremony Thursday to celebrate Chatter’s grand opening in the presence of the Patitucci’s family and friends.

“If anybody said that they were going to quit teaching to open a clothing store, I would’ve looked at them like they were crazy. But when Amber said it, I knew she could do it,” said Celeste Lombardo, a Charlotte, N.C. native and Amber’s best friend who was on hand at the ribbon cutting ceremony in support of the Patituccis’ big day. “I’m so proud of her for following her dream and I wish her much success and I hope Chatter blossoms.”
