Local store-owner expands product, service offerings

MILLEDGEVILLE —

Milledgeville native Brian Edwin Swanson’s career led him to working with the largest mobile network operator in the United States before he decided to begin offering customers similar services at a more affordable prices.

“I was living in Valdosta working for Verizon and I got transferred to Milledgeville. I decided that I was better off on my own. I left in February 2010 and opened B & E Wireless in April 2010,” Swanson said. “I just saw a need where Milledgeville was falling short on cell phone cases and accessories.”

Swanson initially opened B & E Wireless inside the Milledgeville Mall at a kiosk. The business consistently grew over the years and has now expanded its offerings in its new storefront filling nearly 1,000 square feet of space across from Merle Norman, which formerly housed Gold Rush Jewelry.

“Business was slow at first because people didn’t know much about us, but now we have a good 500 to 600 customer-base,” Swanson said. “We moved into the store in October 2012. The foundation of our business is our plans and accessories, but we do have a lot more.”

B & E Wireless handles cellular and wireless needs, including phones, rate plans and accessories including chargers, cases, pouches and bluetooth. Since the relocation, the store is now able to provide computer repair and tile printing services and sell comic books, collectible items, posters, DVDs, video games and gaming consoles.

“If you’re tired of having a contract and feeling obligated to stay with someone, we offer the same services with no contract and no credit check. We have H2O, which works off the AT&T network and Page Plus works off the Verizon network. There is no contract and no credit check with unlimited talk and text,” Swanson said. “We also have a location in Cochran for a little over a year now. That store is more focused on video games than around cell phone services and that’s how I got the idea to bring that part of the business here.”
