Studio Designs Printing helps businesses grow their business

MILLEDGEVILLE — For the past 44 years, Studio Designs Printing has satisfied customers’ printing needs using equipment and technology that has evolved just as commercial printing desires have.

“Over the years technology has changed so much. It’s still an artform but technology has certainly made things where it’s not as much of a craftsmanship as it was years ago,” said Travis Strickland, president of Studio Designs Printing. “We used to use some of the old printing equipment, like the letterpress and printing blocks from back in the 1800s, and now we’re using a press that is environmentally-friendly, which uses no harsh chemicals and a lot of our work is digital. Our printing has definitely come a long way.”

Studio Designs Printing originally opened in 1969 on Jefferson Street before moving to its current location in the early 1980s off North Columbia Street in front of Kmart. Strickland took over the business in 1996 immediately after graduating from Georgia College.

“I’m the third generation. My father and uncle started the business, and over the years there’s been other family members involved, from my granddad to my cousins,” Strickland said. “I used to work here before I could even drive, sweeping the floors, taking out the trash and learning the trade of printing; I grew up through this business. My father passed away in 1990 and my uncle operated the business from 1990 to 1996. My uncle got ready to retire in 1996 and I took over from there.”

The commercial printing, mailing and design company offers a wide range of services, including binding, graphic design, marketing, printing, copying and letterpress.

“We’ve gotten into wide format printing where we can print anything up to 44 inches wide. We’re printing wall designs, trade shows, UV printing, window clings and we can help with an entire marketing campaign,” Strickland said. “We like challenges, big projects and help customers solve their problems. We enjoy helping other business grow their business.”
