ONLINE EXTRA VIDEO! Alison Ivey case dismissed

Jessica Luton
The Union-Recorder

Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit District Attorney Fred Bright announced at a press conference today that charges against Alison Ivey would be dismissed within a day or two. Ivey was set to stand trial for allegedly having sex with two high school students in 2008. A recent ruling by Georgia Supreme Court in the case of Augusta softball coach and teacher Melissa Lee Chase who was convicted under similar charges, overturned that conviction. For that reason, Bright said he had no choice but to dismiss Ivey's case. For more information, please see today's print edition of The Union-Recorder.
