Allied Arts has launched a series of monthly art classes designed to provide home schooled students with opportunities to experience a wide variety of visual arts disciplines and media. The classes are held from 10 a.m. to noon the second Thursday of each month from Jan. 13 through May, 2011. Classes will continue with print making in January, then move on to mixed media, drawing and painting. The classes are held at Allen’s Market Building, 101 W. A Freedom From Smoking clinic will be held at Georgia College and State University at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 18, 2011. Freedom From Smoking is an eight-session stop-smoking clinic sponsored by the American Lung Association in Georgia. Professionally trained instructors help smokers create a supportive environment to break the smoking addiction. Each person who joins this clinic will develop an individual plan for quitting. Registration is now open for Rock Eagle 4-H Center’s Camp Ecoadventure, the premier spring break camp for 6- to 11-year-olds.
